What does it mean to exist in trace? To have your perception filtered through an ever growing list of experiences, good and bad. How do we return to the ignorance of our past, why do we attempt to return to it- even after our consciousness is stained with awareness.
I am a mixed media artist exploring the entangled world of concealment and revelation; working primarily with film, performance and installation to explore how presence and absence shape perception. My art investigates the emotional and symbolic potential of materials to examine themes of care, discomfort, and transformation. Forming the concept of 'Post Traumatic Traces’, the stains and residue that unveil the unseen markers of emotional labour. Drawing on mythology, psychology, and fragmented narratives I question the structures that provoke the cyclical nature of care, harm and healing. Examining their impact on identity and reconstructing emotional experiences through the traces left behind.
